Here are some Parental FAQ's about Our Studio Works Program:

1. What is the difference between the "Broadway Lights and Backstage Pass" Studio Works Classes?

“Broadway Lights” is for younger kids. Sessions are half as long as those for older group (Backstage Pass) and the material is less intensive and better suited to the development skills and maturity of the 7-10 year old age range. It is ideal for kids between the ages of 6 and 10 who think they might like to “try” drama and theater—and for those who are already in love with the stage.

We call the classes  "Studio Works" because this is not "babysitting": it's energetic and rewarding work in a studio setting, taught by professional, theatrically trained instructors (but so much fun the kids won't even know its work)!

Beginners and intermediate students  in both age groups will learn, grow and develop with our curricula which was designed by theater pros specifically for "theater kids".

2. What Can I Expect in This Program?

Studio Works classes are held in either 1.5 (Broadway Lights) or 3 hour (Backstage Pass) sessions over a 10 week period. All classes meet weekly on Thursday nights between 6 pm and 7:30 pm (Broadway Lights) or 6 and 9 pm (Backstage Pass). In the final two sessions, the classes move to the stage for “technical and dress rehearsals” just like in a theatrical production. On the Saturday of the final week the students will present  a unique performance which showcases what they have learned in the latest course.  Parents and other guests are welcome to enjoy this free performance.

3. When and Where are these Classes Held?

The upcoming session dates are TEN CONSECUTIVE THURSDAY EVENINGS.

All Studio Works classes are held in the beautiful state of the art SALEM COMMUNITY CENTER (located just west of downtown Tomball, 26601 Lutheran Church Road, 4 miles west of the Hwy 249/FM 2920 intersection).

The Showcase performance will be presented on the Salem Community Center's Youth Auditorium Stage.

4. Who will be Teaching My Kids?

Our "Works" Director and instructors are all degreed professionals with experience in theater and performance that is unmatched by any other theater arts program in this area, and compares favorably to those available in “downtown Houston” professional theaters (at a fraction of the price). We invite you to compare. We are committed to having the lowest student to teacher ratio available.

Our faculty is carefully screened to meet our criteria for excellence, experience, knowledge of theater and theater arts, have good rapport with children, have the heart of an educator and demonstrate the highest personal and moral character. HCST does not discriminate on the basis of age, sex, race, ethnic heritage, religion or national origin and strives to offers a multi-cultural and diverse faculty in every Studio Works session.

5. What Does It Cost?

Younger students (seven through ten year olds enrolled in Broadway Lights)  will receive fifteen hours of top-notch instruction for $165 tuition (first child enrolled). One additional children (from the same family) may be enrolled for $145 . Students in the older group (those 11 through 16 year olds enrolled in Backstage Pass) receive 30 hours of class time for $315 with a $25 discount for the second child enrolled from the same family. As a basis for comparison between programs, our cost is approximately $8 an hour.

A $100 deposit is required to register each child and hold his or her place in the class (deducted from the tuition and non-refundable).

6. What Do I Need to Bring?
